Due to insufficient entries (7) the individual league final at Skegness has been cancelled. The is the second year in a row we have had to cancel this final for the same reason and it is unlikely the competition will be continued in future. Thanks for those who did support it.

The Championship is open to all members of S.A.M.F. authorised leagues

Eligible leagues are :- Leagues run by S.A.M.F. members, Team League and Leagues authorised by the S.A.M.F. Area Representative.

As a League member you do not have to qualify however you must be S.A.M.F. members to fish in the Championship.  Temporary membership is available to those not wishing to become annual members.

The Championship.

The Championship is currently a two day event fished to league format and its purpose is to give league anglers from different areas an opportunity to test themselves against each other. SAMF match rules apply

This was a difficult fishing match with fish proving scarce with seven anglers blanking and seven with just one fish out of the 21 anglers who entered. Steve Litt from Maryport was the winner with 4 fish for 127 points and Stuart Dewhurst from Preston 2^nd with 3 fish for 92 points. Mostly plaice flounders were caught with an odd eel.

The Individual league titale went to Stuart Dewhurst who had a commanding lead going into this match and could not lose even if he had blanked. 2^nd place went to Steve Nicholson:

 33 anglers fished the match and catches consisted of eels and flounders. Tony Owen (Blackburn) won the match with 11 fish for 259 points, 2^nd was Mike Hughes with9 fish for 257 points and 3^rd was Thomas Hughes with 9 fishg for 256 points.

A harsh NW wind greeted 23 competitors for the 2^nd match in the NW series. This wind made conditions virtually unfishable, and resulted in over half the anglers blanking. There were a few fish in certain areas, mainly Flounders and Codling, all fish caught were released back into the water in good condition.

Paul Withowski had 5 fish for 137 fish points with 2^nd place Ian Brookes having 4 fish for 119 fish points. Bill Lindfield was 3^rd with 4 fish for 112 points.

The pool money was paid out in sections with Ian Brookes in 1^st place in A section and Martin Bleasdale 2^nd with 2 fish for 59 points. B section was won by Paul Withowski, 2^nd place went to Bill Lindfield. 

The 3^rd match is at Stannah on Saturday 19^th June.
